December ReviewPosted : January 5th, 2021
The majority of our horses are now enjoying a winter break, but we signed off on the flat for 2020 with a Listed success, King Power’s Johnny Drama completing an All-Weather four-timer (in the space of a month!) with a short-head victory at Kempton Park under Silvestre De Sousa. He faced some very high-class rivals and was perhaps inconvenienced by the drop in trip when a creditable fifth on his latest outing and there could be plenty more to come from him on the All-Weather in the coming months.
Johnny Drama’s win was our 106th of the season and ensured we finished the campaign in fourth in the Trainers’ Championship, our highest-ever position in the standings, and with over £2million in prize-money for the fourth consecutive year.
We have had a couple of runners over hurdles this winter for the first time in several years and we were delighted to see Diocletian make it third time lucky over timber, sprinting clear for a wide-margin success at Fakenham under Page Fuller, who has been doing all the schooling on our jumpers. He looks the type to do better when granted a strong pace in handicap company and there are plenty of nice races for him in the spring.
