FACILITIES

Kingsclere is undoubtedly one of the best equipped and most beautiful private training establishments in the world. The facilities have been constantly updated and improved since the yard was originally built in the late 1860's.
Today the yard now contains 110 boxes and a four box isolation unit about a mile from the main yard and plans are now underway for the construction of a new state of the art 23 box yard to replace the existing American Barn.

Within the yard area there are three lunging rings two covered and one open; two covered horse walkers and a two furlong circular indoor ride, ensuring that horses can be exercised whatever the weather.
Surrounding the indoor school is a four furlong cinder trotting track. Also contained within this area is an on site forge worked by our own on site blacksmith and a digital weigh bridge for the constant monitoring of racing and training weights.

Kingsclere was one of the first training establishments in the country to be equipped with its own equine swimming pool.
This has made it possible to include swimming as an integral part of the training regime of many horses; particularly those that may be mentally or physically fragile and are unable to endure the rigours of ridden exercise.

The main all weather and turf gallops maintained for everyday use are situated less than half a mile from the yard itself.

The artificial gallops include a four furlong circular polytrack canter, a four and a half furlong polytrack straight with extensive drainage to ensure use in all weather conditions and a five and a half furlong fibresand gallop.

In addition there are three separate grass gallops, a schooling field for the jumpers and a further 15 acres of grass for walking and trotting.

There are twelve half acre grazing paddocks that are used to provide the horses at Kingsclere the opportunity to get turned out during the day or evening during the summer months.

There are two miles of tree lined avenues for walking after exercise and with access to these wonderful facilities in the heart of tranquil Hampshire it is relatively simple to ensure that the horses enjoy a varied and interesting training programme.

Kingsclere also offers a further 200 acres of downland gallops on nearby Watership Down.

This area contains extensive schooling facilities for the National Hunt horses and a total of eight individual grass gallops, varying in nature and offering an extreme of distances from 5 furlongs to a mile and 6 furlongs and a mile long all weather gallop. The turf has been laid for over a hundred years and consequently provides a cushion for the horses, even at times when there is little rain.
