Preparations are really hotting up at home for the 2019 turf season, which is now just a matter of weeks away, but we also added another two winners to our winter tally this month.
A winner on his previous outing at Kempton Park, Spirit Warning duly made it two wins for the year with a straightforward success at Lingfield Park, Josh Bryan dictating a sensible gallop in front before going for home in the straight, the pair readily holding off a rival with solid placed form in second.
Though not at his best on his subsequent start at Wolverhampton, Spirit Warning retains plenty of potential to progress and the son of Charm Spirit can make up into a nice handicapper this term.
Seasearch has been kept busy at this winter and, having finished a close third on his previous start, he went two better with a comfortable success at Southwell, value for more than the winning margin of a neck. He has been defeated twice since but is a capable sort in his grade, and he could yet improve for a switch to turf, having had just one run on grass to date.
Stone Of Destiny almost added to our tally this month when a fast-finishing second in the Group 3 Al Dukhan Sprint in Doha. Slow out of the stalls, he blew his chances by being too keen in the early stages and having to be snatched off heels round the first bend. The manner in which he closed on the winner in the straight suggested he would have won had things gone his way, and a big prize looks well within his capabilities this season.
