January UpdatePosted : February 4th, 2020
We have started the year very brightly, our small team for the All-Weather recording five wins in January and a further 10 reaching the frame from just 25 runners.
I was delighted to see Straight Right return to winning ways, coping well with the drop to six furlongs. Rob Hornby was seen to good effect, bringing him through with a strong run to lead near the finish in what was a competition conditions event at Kempton Park. Now 6 from 13 on the All-Weather, he looks capable of further success in the coming weeks.
Stanford was another to score at Kempton Park this month, flying home in the final half-furlong under David Probert to land what had looked an unlikely victory. The son of Zoffany looks on a fair mark to start off in handicaps and is a lovely prospect for the season ahead.
A winner on her first start for us in October, Cwynar doubled her tally with a ready success at Lingfield Park. The form of this looks strong, given it came at the expense of Agent Of Fortune, who had won four of his previous five starts and has won twice since! Given a well-judged ride from the front by David Probert, she should make a very bold bid to land the hat trick next time.
Our final two runners of the month were both winners, with Group One Power getting the better in a tight finish at Kempton Park to make a winning debut and Elham Valley successful at the third time of asking at Lingfield Park. They both look bright prospects.
