A week on from recording a century of winners in a season for the first time, there was another landmark achievement for Park House Stables, with Qatar Racing’s Side Glance recording a famous win in the Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington, Australia, under a fine ride from Jamie Spencer. Many congratulations to his owner Sheikh Fahad, to David Redvers and to Leanne Masterton, who was in charge of Side Glance’s preparation for the race.

Bred on the Kingsclere Stud by Emma Balding, he has been an incredible success story, showing tremendous toughness and versality throughout his career to date. Having started his year with a fine fourth in the Dubai World Cup, he took in Royal Ascot and the Arlington Million before traversing the globe to Australia, where he ran well to finish sixth in the Cox Plate the week before his Mackinnon success.

He will now go for the Group 1 Hong Kong Cup, run over 1m2f at Sha Tin on 8th December and, nine years on from Phoenix Reach’s win in the Hong Kong Vase, it is so exciting for all of us to take a Group 1 winner there again.
