Bay colt, Casamento / Purple Tigress (Dubai Destination)

29 April 2016

This athletic colt is the second foal of an unraced mare by the excellent broodmare sire Dubai Destination. She is a half-sister to the talented and tough Taajub, who was second in the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes and Group 3 Cornwallis Stakes as a two year old, and third at Group 3 level as an older horse. He is still racing and won this year as a ten year old. This colt’s third dam, Noble Rose, won the Group 3 Park Hill Stakes and the Listed Galtres Stakes and produced two group winners in Notability and Simon de Montfort. Casamento won the Group 2 Beresford Stakes and Group 1 Racing Post Trophy as a two year old, and has made a good start to his career at stud with his first two crops including Group performers Kings Gift, Glastonbury Song, Rythmique, Whitefountainfairy and Paiardina. This colt’s half-brother Free Ranger fetched 150,000gns as a yearling, is in training with Jim Bolger and was second on his second start. He is bred on the same cross as this colt, being by a son of Shamardal. This colt was bought at the Tattersalls Ireland sale and is cantering daily, showing an excellent attitude.

Bay/Grey colt, Reliable Man / Why Worry (Cadeaux Genereux)

12 Mar 2016

This striking colt is from the second crop of dual Group 1 winner Reliable Man (winner of the French Derby and the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes in Australia). Reliable Man has made an excellent start at stud, with this year’s first crop of 2yos including Group 3 winner Narella and, in the southern hemisphere, Group 1 placed Belle du Nord and Sully. This colt’s dam was a winner over a mile and has already produced a black type performer in Why Worry, whilst the granddam is Group-winning sprinter Seltitude. Bought at Arqana’s October sale, this colt is a lovely mover and taking his early training in his stride.
