FEBRUARY REVIEW
Our AW team have been in excellent form and February saw eight winners added to our tally, as we look forward to the start of the turf season at the end of March.
McLean House has been in fine form this winter and he added two successes this month to his already impressive career tally, taking two Lingfield Park handicaps in the space of 11 days under Oisin Murphy. In front on the line for the first of those wins, the step up to a mile saw a more comfortable success on his next start. He remains on an upward curve and could have plenty more to offer this year.
Fivethousandtoone returned to winning ways with a ready success at Kempton Park, coming home strongly in the second-time visor under Oisin Murphy. A very talented individual on his day, he remains on a workable mark and could have a say on AW Finals Day.
Sudden Ambush won three times last year and he started 2024 in the best possible fashion with another win, scoring by a nose under David Probert at Kempton Park. It was the four year old’s first win at class 2 level and, having been raised just 1lb, he should continue to be very competitive, with the Lincoln Trial at Wolverhampton a possible target.
An all-the-way winner of his maiden in January, Fire Demon left a quiet run at Lingfield behind him with another success back at Kempton Park, racing prominently throughout and winning with plenty to spare under Oisin Murphy. The 5lbs rise looks fair and he is another that could make his mark on Good Friday.
Legacy Power had run better than the result suggested on his previous start and it was pleasing to see him shed his maiden tag at Kempton Park, given a good front-running ride by Oisin Murphy. He has only been raised 1lb for that success, so can hopefully make a bold bid to follow up next time.
Night At Sea was another to get off the mark in February, building on two consecutive seconds with a narrow win at Kempton Park under Oisin Murphy. A beautifully-bred daughter of Sea The Stars, she will now head back to Denford Stud for her next phase of her career.
Page Three also got her head in front for the first time, making the most of a good opportunity at Kempton Park under David Probert. She has since travelled to the Unites States where she will become a broodmare.
